TALICH QUARTET 27. 4. 2023 - 19:30 Convent of St Agnes of Bohemia

In 2022 the Talich Quartet celebrated 60 years since its founding at the Prague Conservatoire, and according to the current make-up and condition of the ensemble, there seems to be no reason to worry about its future. The soul of the evening, in which images and music will interconnect, is firmly rooted in the late 19th century. It was then that Dvořák decided to compose the Quartet in F major, only to abandon it after completing the first movement. At that time, also thanks to Lumír’s calls for compositions for the Národní Beseda Ball, he created the cycle Waltzes, although he himself realized that they would probably not be ideal for dancing. The music of the impressionist Claude Debussy has an inherent quality of urgent and changeable mood. Joaquín Turina continues naturally in this line of work, although his Toreador Prayer was not created until 1925.
