Pietari INKINEN | conductor
The legendary violinist Pinchas Zukerman opened the 2017/2018 season with us in a concert conducted by Pietari Inkinen. We heard Beethoven then, and it was immediately clear that there was demand for a reprise. Two Septembers later, and again we have Pietari Inkinen, while Pinchas Zukerman has become FOK Artist in Residence; but this time he will not perform alone, he will bring his dear wife, the outstanding cellist Amanda Forsyth with him from Canada, to perform string fireworks in the first half of the concert. Pinchas Zukerman will play his venerable Guarneri instrument, Amanda Forsyth performs with her precious Testore cello from 1699. The music by two great friends Johannes Brahms and Antonín Dvořák will be complemented by the Finnish maverick Jean Sibelius – his Fifth climaxes in possibly the most sublime choral.
The concert is being held under the auspices of the Embassy of Canada.
end of the concert at 9.45 p.m.
