The year 2023 is the year of Sergei Rachmaninov. He was born on April 1, 1873 and died on March 28, 1943. In between those dates - fortunately for the whole world - he dedicated his life to music, and through music to joy, grace and love. Each of his works is a world cultural gem. This is also true of his Fourth Piano Concerto, which he composed after leaving Russia for the United States, forever. There he was introduced to jazz performed by Duke Ellington and Art Tatum and allowed his great enchantment for the genre to permeate into his talent for melody. And that is what happens in the Fourth Concerto. Mahler, likewise, allowed Bach's counterpoint to pass into his Fifth Symphony. The gala evenings will be delivered by the most consummate artists: the chief conductor Tomáš Brauner and the genius from piano heaven Lukáš Vondráček.
