JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH

Orchestral Suite No. 1 in C major BWV 1066
Monika KNOBLOCHOVÁ | harpsichord
Edita KEGLEROVÁ | harpsichord
MUSICA FLOREA
Marek ŠTRYNCL | artistic director
Whilst the piano makes sound by a hammer hitting a string, the harpsichord has a gentle character. It does not know a hit as such, the strings resound upon a gentle pluck – possibly with a raven’s quill. The resulting sound is ringing. It is delicate. Poetic. Like the two elegant ladies who will sit at the keyboards of two beautiful instruments. Of course, they cannot play a complete set of Bach’s concertos for two harpsichords on their own. Marek Štryncl will be their kindred spirit, performing with his ensemble Musica Florea. They will all strive for a peaceful Advent time.
end of the concert at 9.15 p.m.
