On the eve of the Czech National Holiday on November 17th, and only a few days after the Polish Day of Independence, we shall welcome the Poznan Philharmonic to Smetana Hall. Whilst the FOK will play Czech music in September in Poznan, the Poznan orchestra will present the best of their country. Chopin and Wieniawski need no introduction, but the gems of Penderecki and Kurpiński are, unfortunately, rarely heard. The same goes for the brilliant soloist – the South Korean violinist Bomsori Kim and Russian pianist Yulianna Avdeeva. Their appearance on stage alongside the famous Polish conductor Lukasz Borowicz is, of course, not coincidental – they both successfully competed in two major Polish competitions.
