TRIO MARTINŮ
Pavel ŠAFAŘÍK | violin

Petr JIŘÍKOVSKÝ | piano
Today we are staying at home, in two ways. First, on stage, you will see our own FOK players – the cellist Jaroslav Matějka and the violinist Pavel Šafařík accompanied by Peter Jiříkovský; furthermore, the music you will hear will be exclusively by Czech composers. Antonín Dvořák’s Trio from 1883 as well as the Piano Trio by Bohuslav Martinů composed in 1951 are today considered classics. The royal discipline of chamber music also attracts contemporary composers. One of the most outstanding among them in our country is Jaroslav Pelikán. Hence, in tonight’s concert, we’ll travel through time with the piano, and from the comfort of the concert hall we’ll be able to observe how this musical form has been changing across three centuries.
