The Easter Week is a truly holy week in the liturgical calendar when Christians remember the last week of Jesus’ life on Earth, his death by crucifixion and his resurrection. The week starts on Sunday and every day has its own special meaning: Palm Sunday, Spy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and at last Easter Sunday. On Maundy Thursday, sound has a particular significance, as on this day Christians are expected to weep and the organ can play for the last time. Dvořák’s Stabat Mater fulfils both these aspects and will set you in the right state of mind for Easter.
The concert is being held under the auspices of the Embassy of the Netherlands in the Czech Republic.
