West Side Story

Two composers, two centuries and one timeless story of forbidden love. Tchaikovsky's romantic Romeo and Juliet and Bernstein's electrifying Symphonic Dances from West Side Story offer two strikingly different musical responses to Shakespeare's most famous tragedy. Between them comes Ladislav Simon's dramatic and rarely performed Trombone Concerto, featuring the Prague Symphony Orchestra's principal trombonist Kurt Neubauer as soloist. Conducted by Chief Conductor Tomáš Netopil, the programme traces a journey from Verona to twentieth-century New York, united by music of passion, conflict and love.
