GYPSY BAROQUE

Romani music has been and always will be a huge well of inspiration; however, Romani musicians also – to everybody’s benefit – are absorbed by Telemann’s or Mozart’s music. This two-way traffic is uniquely captured in the program of the Milanese viola da gamba player, Vittorio Ghielmi and his ensemble Il Suonar Parlante Orchestra. As this is an attempt to present the virtuosity and repertoire of an 18th century Gypsy band, there also must be included, apart from the ‘Baroque’musicians Alessandro Tampieri and Graciela Gibelli, the renowned Slovak folk-jazz violinist Stano Palúch and his loyal and equally brilliant player from Moldova, cimbalist, Marcel Comendant. Early music is going to show its highly temperamental face!
