DMITRI SHOSTAKOVICH Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor Op. 77
BOHUSLAV MARTINŮ Symphony No. 4
Vadim REPIN | violin
PRAGUE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Pietari INKINEN | conductor
In September 2016, the violin virtuoso Vadim Repin, alongside Pietari Inkinen, opened the FOK’s 82nd season. Enchanted by beautiful concerts, we immediately agreed on the soloist’s next guest performance. That comes now, in February 2019, and on the music stand will be an emblematic piece – Shostakovich’s First Violin Concerto. Bohuslav Martinů’s Fourth Symphony composed in the United States in the spring and summer of 1945 has a similarly refined manuscript. Written worlds apart in miles, these two works are unusually close in their nostalgia and their hope.
