Although the work of Salomone Rossi, a native of Mantua, is of an outstanding and in many respects revolutionary quality, this composer remained for a very long time in the shadow of his more famous contemporary, Claudio Monteverdi. Being of Jewish origin, Rossi had to overcome many obstacles and prejudices of which his colleagues were spared. One of the artistic goals of the male vocal ensemble Profeti della quinta is to rediscover and promote Rossi’s beautiful music. Let’s celebrate the 70th anniversary of the State of Israel with these ambassadors of Rossi’s music and their performance of the Song of Solomon.
