Pietari INKINEN | conductor

There are violinists and then there are Violinists! Pinchas Zukerman unequivocally belongs to the latter category. You can tell in part from his teachers – young Pinchas was in the care of Isaac Stern and Pablo Casals – and from his pupils, Julian Rachlin and Guy Braunstein. It’s not just by coincidence that the FOK will open their 83rd season with this great Tel Aviv native and long-time Canadian resident, alongside chief conductor Pietari Inkinen; the two are old friends. Besides, the FOK is not an unknown address for Zuckerman either; we had the honour of hosting his recital in October 2012. So, we know it will be a refreshing event when we can again drink in the enchanting tones of his famous, age-old Guarneri violin from 1742, nick-named ‘Dushkin’.
