If there is a name in the Czech Republic synonymous with a first class accordionist, it is that of Ladislav Horák. He is a spiritus agens; for all intents and purposes a person who lights fire in novice accordion players and at the same time encourages leading composers to write for the world full of air, keys and buttons. The January concert at the Convent of St. Agnes will be conducted in the same spirit - Ladislav Horák will demonstrate his mastery alongside the excellent Czech cello player, Petr Nouzovský. The programme includes one of the most significant compositions for cello and accordion In Croce by the contemporary Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina, as well as tango – music that throughout its existence has been essentially linked with the accordion.
