BEDŘICH SMETANA My Country
PRAGUE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Tomáš NETOPIL | conductor
It’s almost a requirement that every Czech orchestra plays Bedřich Smetana’s My Country (Ma vlast). The Prague Symphony Orchestra played it for the first time shortly after its founding, on November 19th, 1939. How natural it seems to perform My Country today, and how extraordinary it was during the German Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia! The Concert for the Republic is now an established tradition and is dedicated to all those who played a positive role in the country’s history.
end of the concert at 18.45
