The world famous tenor and conductor José Cura and his favourite poet, Pablo Neruda have a lot in common. They are both native South Americans, both cultural ambassadors of their continents, and both have a special relationship with the Czech Lands. The Chilean Nobel Prize holder chose the name of the Czech poet Jan Neruda as his pseudonym, and José Cura holds such an affinity to the ‘Czech basin’ that he accepted the offer to be the Prague Symphony Orchestra’s Artist in Residence. On this occasion he will be taking on the roles of both singer and composer, namely of the musical-literary drama If I Die, Survive Me, setting Pablo Neruda’s verses from the One Hundred Love Sonnets.
The concert is being held under the auspices of H. E. Mrs. Helena Tuuri, Ambassador of Finland to the Czech Republic
and under the auspices of the Embassy of the Argentine Republic to the Czech Republic.
