Improvisation cannot exist without inspiration. This music-and-dance performance, built on improvisation, was inspired by The Holly Sinner, the last completed and published work from 1951 by the German writer Thomas Mann. Themes of love, sin, redemption and forgiveness, subjects as old as mankind itself, are woven together in this story of Gregorious. The whole musical mysterium goes back to the roots and combines various forms of artistic expression with old traditions. Music inspires dance and dance inspires music. The spoken word provides a framework for the storyline. The church venue naturally complements and intensifies the spiritual side of the work. This unique performance, presented in many important Czech festivals, will see its last repeat at the Church of St. Simon and St. Jude.
