Éric LE SAGE | piano
When we, together with the French cultural attaché Alexandre Pajon, were choosing a suitable pianist for the concert in honour of Claude Debussy (1862–1918), it was not really a difficult decision. We chose Éric Le Sage, a native from Aix-en-Provence, very quickly. One of the reasons was that Le Sage is also an expert interpreter of Robert Schumann’s works, whose compositional style fundamentally influenced Claude Debussy’s development. The celebrated Provencalian will take us through the years 1903–1908 that for the Impressionist – who hated that label – were fundamental. They are the years when he was churning out one important work after another. Le Sage is also would be predestined for this concert - his name translates as ‘the expert’.
