Evangelina MASCARDI | lute

The lute is an instrument which we usually see in a man’s hands and hear mainly in orchestras specialising in authentic interpretations of Baroque music. Its most fragile and delicate sound is too beautiful to be experienced only in its accompanying role. As a good writer entwines mystery between the lines, the Argentinean lutenist Evangelina Mascardi finds between the lute’s strings an unexpected palette of colours, moods and expressions. The programme of her concert will introduce two composers whose dates of birth and death are almost identical, but their concepts of lute as a concert instrument are totally different.
