The Prague Philharmonic Choir

was founded in 1935 by an opera singer and choirmaster Jan Kühn under the name Czech Choir. In 1953 it was integrated into the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1959 Josef Veselka took the baton of the ensemble. From 1981 to 1990 the choir was led by Veselka's pupil Lubomír Mátl. From 1990 till 1996 Pavel Kühn, son of the founder, was engaged as the chief conductor. From 1996 to 2005 the choir was led by Jaroslav Brych. Since September 2005, the choir was led by Jan Rozehnal. From March 2007 the choir has been led by Lukáš Vasilek. During its existence the ensemble has collaborated with a large number of well-known international conductors and orchestras. The Prague Philharmonic Choir is also a permanent guest at significant world music festivals.
