Daniel   Müller-Schott

The cellist Daniel Müller-Schott born in Munich in 1976 ranks among the world’s best cellists of his generation and can be heard on all of the foremost international concert stages.

He studied under Walter Nothas, Heinrich Schiff and Steven Isserlis. In 1992 he first caused a sensation internationally by winning the 1st Prize at the Moscow International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians.

All over the world he has appeared in concert with such renowned conductors as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Charles Dutoit, Christoph Eschenbach, Bernard Haitink, Sir Neville Marriner, Kurt Masur and André Previn. The cellist works with such leading international orchestras as the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Munich, the Orchestre National de France, the BBC Philharmonic. His chamber music partners include Renaud Capuçon, Julia Fischer, Anne-Sophie Mutter, André Previn and Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Daniel Müller-Schott is a regular guest at international festivals of music, for example in Salzburg, Lucerne, and at the City of London Festival.

His recordings have received numerous awards, including the Gramophone Editor’s Choice, Strad Selection, and the BBC Music Magazine’s “CD of the month”.

Daniel Müller-Schott plays the “Ex Shapiro” Matteo Goffriller cello, made in Venice in 1727.
