The Frenchman Bertrand Chamayou’s performance in August 2017 at the prestigious Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival was a true tour-de-force. At 8 PM he sat down at the piano in the sold-out Great Concert Hall of the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie and got up at 11.35 PM after playing the complete Ravel piano repertoire. Ravel’s jubilee year has now passed. In March 2019 we shall experience its reflection in the Miroirs suite. Nevertheless, even for Prague this ‘culinary pianist’ from Toulouse prepared a few “delicatesses”: a taste of rarely performed piano music by Camille Saint-Saëns and as for the main course Schumann’s Carnaval.
